Later this week, Sophos will be center stage at VB2013, one of the premier malware research conferences in the world. Researchers from SophosLabs will present no fewer than five papers in Berlin this week, with a sixth waiting in reserve.
The papers are:
- Back channels and bitcoins: ZeroAccess’ secret C&C communications by James Wyke
- Between an RTF and OLE2 place: an analysis of CVE-2012-0158 samples by Paul Baccas and Vanja Svajcer
- GinMaster: a case study in Android malware by Rowland Yu
- Hide and seek – how targeted attacks hide behind clean applications by Gabor Szappanos
- Classifying PUAs in the mobile environment by Vanja Svajcer and Sean McDonald
- Trapping unknown malware in a context web (reserve paper) by Numaan Huq and Peter Szabo
Congrats to SophosLabs and all the researchers for setting a Sophos record for number of papers accepted at a single conference! Keep an eye on Naked Security later this week, as we’ll be providing a more in-depth look at some of the research. A few of the authors may also make appearances in an upcoming episode of Chet Chat. Stay tuned!
