This hour-long webcast provides expert advice on techniques, procedures and tools to help organizations identify and respond to APT incidents, and tips to help you better prioritize defenses, resources and budget.
Our presenters, Chester Wisniewski, Senior Security Advisor at Sophos, and Rick Doten, Chief Information Security Officer at DMI Mobile Enterprise Solutions, lend their expertise to shed some light on these frequently misunderstood threats.
The webcast, Advanced Persistent Threats: Dispelling the Myths, Uncovering the Reality, was the final event in our 2013 series of bi-monthly webcasts examining critical and timely cyber security issues. Embracing the concept that security is everyone’s responsibility, these webcasts are promoted to a broad audience to help raise awareness and knowledge.
APT refers to a long-term pattern of targeted and sophisticated cyber attacks designed to access and steal information from compromised computers. These complex attacks are ongoing against both large and small organizations and are increasingly used to pursue financial gain. APT attacks are difficult to detect and difficult to prevent.
Our goal was to improve organizations’ awareness and ability to identify anomalous traffic or events that could help discover the presence of APT on your network. Our speakers provided tips on remediation and recovery, as traditional forensics methods and procedures might not be effective or appropriate when dealing with APT.
The live webcast on December 5th was attended by more than 600 people from four countries, all 50 U.S. states, Washington D.C., and two U.S. territories. We thank Chester and Rick, and the participants who helped make the event such a great success.
