Astaro celebrates Cyber Security Awareness Month

Each October the National Cyber Security Awareness Alliance hosts National Cyber Security Awareness month, a national public awareness campaign to encourage everyone to protect their computers and our nation’s critical cyber infrastructure. Businesses can participate in the campaign to help improve awareness around this important issue.

Astaro has always been concerned with educating the public on the importance of cyber security and how people can secure their homes and business networks. This is why we offer our Astaro Security Gateway to home users for free and created an informative Facebook Fan Page. It is also the driving force behind this blog. So, it only made sense for us to participate in Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Our efforts include the creation of www.astaro.com/ncsam-2011 where we will post tips for parents, teachers, students and businesses on staying safe online as well as information about a video submission contest for students. Through this contest, students can submit a one- to two-minute video answering the questions “Why is cyber security awareness important?” and “What are you doing to stay safe online?” using this online portal. During the month of October, visitors to our site can vote on the best videos in each age group. At the end of the month Astaro will select one winner from each age group and four lucky winners will receive a brand new laptop!

Please join us in promoting cyber security awareness by forwarding the link to the micro-site and participating in the video contest. With a little education we can make the Internet a safer place. Please note that the competition is open to residents of the United States and Canada only.
