Sophos at CeBIT: UTM Accelerated 9.2, Warbiking, and some important guests at our booth

sophos-cebit-150We had a big presence at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany the week of 10-14 March, and we met many great customers, partners, and notable guests. Lord Livingston, UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment, stopped by to talk with us, and we also met Olaf Lies, German Minister of Economics.

This year’s CeBIT tech conference was one of the biggest ever, attracting a lot of attention thanks to the attendance of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and UK Prime Minister David Cameron, who gave a big speech about the future of information technology.

Among the main attractions — the unveiling of Sophos UTM Accelerated (9.2). James Lyne, Global Head of Security Research, pulled in a crowd as he presented his findings from his latest warbiking trek in San Francisco. What is warbiking? It involves James riding the city streets on his mountain bike, using special equipment to detect wireless hotspots and information about who’s using them. What he found was somewhat shocking.

Make sure to see the results of the San Francisco ride and watch a video at sophos.com/warbiking. James also has 10 wireless security tips at sophos.com/tips. And watch for our World of Warbiking tour in a city near you.

In this Tweet we sent out from CeBIT, our CFO Nick Bray is on the right, talking to Lord Livingston.
